| I just saw Mr Hiatt with Mr Lovett for the 6th time. I enjoyed the show. I prefer John with his band but I still enjoyed it. Now, years ago, he autographed a guitar strap of mine at a concert. That guitar strap was stolen by a woman last week at an Alan Jackson concert. Alan signed it then threw it into the crowd, a fight broke out, and it was gone. Oh well. I'm not heartbroken but it had several other signatures on it. So, knowing I was going to see John Hiatt 2 nights later, I bought a brand new guitar strap. After his show, a staff member of the establishment took my strap to Mr Hiatt and Mr Lovett to get an autograph. They refused! I happen to know that 20 backstage passes were handed out for fans to meet the performers. That took 10 minutes. There was no huge crazy mob that they had to fight off. Am I missing something or what. It didnt disappoint me that I didnt get the autographs BUT it did disappoint me when they refused to do it. If there is some legal reason then fine. If not, I will not buy another album, play another song, or go to another concert. If its a case of they just dont wanna do it, that is sending a strong message," Yeah, so your a big fan. So what?" |

| You have every right to be p*ssed off. I would be too. I can't complain, though. When I saw John and the Combo in Charlottesville, VA last year, he announced that he "would sign anything the fans wanted signed but please don't flop your big organ out and expect me to sign it". In your case, I think the handlers/managers made a decision that they had to pack it up and get out quickly and they didn't want to be slowed down even more. But I have to tell you, John and the Combo are all very gracious to their fans. They have been good to me; posed for photos, signed photos for my kid, the works! They appreciate their fans. Don't know what happened in your case, but sorry it happened. |
