I saw John Hiatt playing live in Stockholm, at the old cinematheatre Palladium (is now rebuilt to a Casino!) some time during the Bring the Family-tour in the end of the 80s.
I'm sad to say I can't really remember all that much about the gig except for 2 things;
* He started before scedule - 8pm - my friend and I was in the toilet, when we heard a very familiar tune. We had to finish suddenly and rush in to see;
* John Hiatt solo on stage, with somekind of keyboard, may have been hanging in a strap from his neck - but I'm not sure. He was playing "Have a little faith in me"!
Outside of thees 2 short memorys I'm more or less blank.
As far as I can remember it, it was a GREAT concert.
But what songs did he play? What back-up band did he have?
More important - did Sonny Landreth play at this Stockholm-concert?
I have seen video on Youtube, "Memphis in the meantime" recorded for German television in 1987, with Sonny playing. I've never considered the posibillity that Sonny had played with John Hiatt prior to the recording of "Slow turning".
I'm a BIG fan of Sonny Landreth (and of John Hiatt), he's def on my "Bucket-list" over artists/bands I would love to see playing live - and maybe I have already done that!? |

That must have been with the Goners (Sonny Landreth, Dave Ransom and Kenneth Blevins).
I saw them in July 1988 at the Werchter rockfestival. _________________ ... there's a bitter sweet perfume... |
